Giovanna Trigona (1904-1994)
She married Beppe Albanese in 1923, commander of the Regia Aeronautica and automobile pilot who involved her in her sporting passions: the Targa Florio and the International Air Tour of Sicily.
During the Second World War she became a Red Cross nurse, a war volunteer and managed one of the first women’s committees, which merged into the National Committee for Sicily, immediately after the Armistice of 8 September 1943.
She also distinguished herself in the assistance of patients in hospitals, hospices and nursing homes with that spirit of service that harbored in her and at the end of the conflict, in 1947, she founded the Italian Social Movement in Palermo.
